Call to student artists – Spokane High School Art Wraps

Spokane Arts is seeking designs created by current area high school students to cover traffic signal boxes throughout the city of Spokane as part of an on-going partnership with STCU, Spokane Arts, and the city of Spokane.  Selected artist designs will be printed on vinyl and wrapped around the signal boxes by a third party design fabricator. The intent of the project is to beautify the electrical boxes, bringing art to otherwise utilitarian surfaces and give student artists an opportunity to develop public art experience.

Up to ten artists will be chosen for this round of art wraps. Selected artists will be awarded $150 per box design. Artists can submit up to 4 designs. Signal box locations will be located throughout the city of Spokane and are to be installed in 2021.

Applications accepted online only, through SmarterSelect. Artists must use provided templates (available in the application instructions). Submitted artwork must be a high resolution digital file. Original photography is welcome. Artists using non-digital mediums must scan or photograph original artwork to create a high resolution digital image. Because of the enlarging process for printing, your files need to be high resolution. For any raster images, your file should be at actual size of the signal box at 300dpi at a minimum. Your design may be edited or resized to best fit the individual size and shape of specific signal boxes.
