TERRAIN 14 – Preview Night

Terrain is the region’s largest multimedia art and music event. Featuring work by hundreds of artists, celebrating new energy and fresh ideas from all over the artistic spectrum, we try to showcase a little of everything that’s happening to make the Inland Empire a more vibrant, cultural and beautiful place to live.

Preview Night was created in response to requests for a more intimate way to experience Terrain. Think of it as a sneak peek of the main event, and an opportunity to engage with the artists and the artwork in a chill setting. Skip the lines, meet the artists, buy art first, and support Terrain!

TERRAIN 14 – Main Event

Always on the first Friday in October, Terrain is an annual, one-night-only, juried multimedia art and music event celebrating artists in the Spokane area. From painting to poetry to interactive art and film, we try to showcase a little of everything that’s happening to make the Inland Empire a more vibrant, cultural and beautiful place to live. In addition to all the visual art, there will be a full musical lineup, literary readings, film screenings, dance and other performances, food trucks, beer garden, photo booth, thousands of your closest friends, and more!

Rising Tide | A Collaborative Evening of Dance

Rising Tide is a collaborative evening of dance and a celebration of the female choreographic voice featuring the work of five local female choreographers representing a wide variety of dance styles. Inspired by the proverb, “A rising tide lifts all boats” this performance was created by the dance community for the audience to experience professional dance in Spokane that is simultaneously fierce and enfolding, challenging, and uplifting.

Navarasa Kalinga Nartana | A South Indian Dance Drama

The South Asia Cultural Association of Spokane presents Navarasa Kalinga Nartana, a South Indian Dance Drama in the classical Bharatanatyam style. Artists will conduct a free workshop demonstrating the dance style at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Shadle Park Library, 2111 W Wellesley Ave. Dance performance begins at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) on Saturday, September 16th , 2023 at The Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W Sprague Ave.

Spokane Fall Folk Festival

Bringing Global Cultures Together to Celebrate their Music, Dance, Stories, Food, and Crafts. Here’s a chance to travel the world and experience many different cultures in two days without leaving town. Immerse yourself in the global music and dance from every continent, stories handed down from generation to generation, and discover the diverse cultures present in the Inland Northwest. Since 1996 the Fall Folk Festival has featured hundreds of artists and cultural groups. If want to hear bagpipes performances close up, vibrate with the beat of drummers on Japanese drums, or learn traditional folk dances, this is your chance. And it’s FREE

Obon – Japanese Cultural Festival

Obon – a Japanese cultural event honoring our ancestors, featuring Japanese food, artists & dancers. Free entrance~free kids games~charge for Japanese food.
Obon Schedule: 11 am – 4 pm – Japanese Artist Displays & Sales, Kids games, Japanese Bento Boxes, Sushi & Desserts. 4 pm – Brief Buddhist Service. 5 pm Bon Odori Japanese dancing.
Come dance for joy for your ancestors. These dances are easy to follow and led by Izumi and the Spokane Buddhist Temple Bon Odori Dancers.
