Grantee: Spokane Youth Symphony

Project Title: Christine J. Cooper Lesson Assistance Scholarship Program
Year awarded: 2021, Round 1

SAGA is excited to support Spokane Youth Symphony’s Christine J. Cooper Lesson Assistance Scholarship Program. The Spokane Youth Symphony is comprised of four orchestras which provide progressive levels of training to our area’s musical youth. Due to the skill level required for participation, SYS students are encouraged to take private lessons.

The Lesson Assistance Program assists qualified families with the cost of private lessons. With SAGA support, the Spokane Youth Symphony will be able to provide the required private lessons for students from disadvantaged households in addition to offering increased income for professional musician teachers in the Spokane community.

Professional teachers interested in mentoring SYS students are invited to inquire about opportunities through the SYS Executive Director, Jennifer O’Bannan at
