Kristy Hamby works in mixed media mosaic art. What does that mean? She uses a variety of materials – mostly glass – in developing art or “enhancing” everyday items. Mixed media includes stained glass, glass beads and tile, metal beads, ceramics, old jewelry and the sort. It all is cut and put together into something both visual and tactile. Texture, color and pattern come together in random ways to make everything from garden stones, wall art to holiday décor. Kristy is recently retired and such is a new artist. She is just getting started in sales! She will be putting together a Facebook page and hoping to sell her work in local artisan stores like Made Here.
Kristy has a BS in Education from Florida State University and was most recently a real estate agent here in Spokane. She plans on using her teaching degree to offer some mosaic classes in the next year in hopes of gaining more interest in this medium in the greater Spokane area.
