Opportunity: Yuletide 2023

Aritistic Discipline: Visual

YULETIDE 2023 YULETIDE IS BACK! Yuletide is the SAS’s fun, holiday, indoor event of fine arts and crafts. This year Yuletide will be at the Spokane Art School at 503 East 2nd Ave., Suite B. Yuletide artists booths will be located on the 1st & 2nd floors. Booth space is available for up to 27 artists. The event will open at 10 am on Friday, November 3rd and will be a part of First Friday. Yuletide will continue through Saturday, November 4 and Sunday November 5th.

ART AND CRAFT WORKS Yuletide seeks high quality, original, individually-produced works that display consistent craftsmanship. Acceptable media include ceramics, paintings, prints, drawings, mixed media, photographs, jewelry, glass, woodwork, specialty food items, sculpture, and fiber arts. In addition, we are looking for seasonal holiday items such as cards, wreaths, menorahs, wrapping paper, clothing, toys, candles, soap, and ornaments. We will accept nothing made from kits or commercial molds, or with the help of an instructor. Although there are some sales of work over $250 for an item at Yuletide, the bulk of sales occur between $50 – $75. Think about your own gift giving to friends and family in considering your Yuletide sales strategy.

ARTIST SELECTION Both new artists and established artists are encouraged to apply. Artists will be juried on the basis of digital images of their work. The jury will select participants representing a balanced variety of media. DIGITAL IMAGES AND APPLICATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, JULY 7, 2023, TO BE CONSIDERED. Jury results will be sent before or by Friday, August 4, 2023, along with more detailed information.

OPERATIONS and FINANCIAL INFORMATION Yuletide 2023 participating artists will pay a flat 5’ x 8’ booth fee of $200 ($300 for a booth is shared by 2 artists), due upon your acceptance. There are no other commissions or added fees. It is acceptable for two artists to share a booth (and expenses and booth tending) by submitting their images as one application. If the booth is being shared by 2 artists the booth fee is $300. SAS reserves the right to reproduce accepted images for advertising purposes. Artists must have a current city business license and are responsible for collecting sales tax. SAS will advertise for the event through social media, our newsletter, online calendars as well as email the Yuletide announcement to participating artists to send to their customers. Booths must be manned by artists or their representatives throughout the event. Booths will be assigned by lottery. Yuletide volunteers will help direct customer traffic, booth-sit, and other things throughout the event. Yuletide is free and opened to the public. Free parking is available. Beyond our costs, proceeds from the Yuletide event will directly support SAS educational programs.

DEADLINE: Applications must reach us no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, July 7, 2023. Applications may be emailed to spokaneartschool@gmail.com.
