KYRS is seeking a host or hosts for our long running show, Queer Sounds, the only local program that plays music primarily by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Artists.
Queer Sounds provides a platform for music that is overlooked or ignored by mainstream media and provides a welcoming and safe space on the radio for LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies. The potential host should have a broad knowledge and keen love for this important spectrum of music.
PriorĀ broadcast experience is not required and KYRS will provide all the necessary training as well as on-going support to help the host be successful.
This is an exciting time to be part of KYRS since we will be moving our broadcast studio to the newly renovated Downtown Spokane Public Library this summer. This will open many doors for new events and possibilities and create even greater exposure for our shows.
Programming on KYRS reaches, educates and helps thousands of people in the Pacific Northwest and this is your opportunity to be part of a conscious community that is making a positive impact on people and the planet.
KYRS is a non-profit, non-commercial community station in Spokane. Since 2003, Thin Air Radio has served the area with local arts, culture, news and music, filling needs that other media do not, providing programming to diverse communities and un-served or underserved groups.
