Founded in 1916, the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) is the Inland Northwest’s oldest and largest cultural organization and is the regional museum for eastern Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana.
The MAC is excited to be the first museum to bring the DreamWorks Animation: Journey From Sketch to Screen exhibition to the United States and to the region. It will be on display March 22nd – Sept. 5th, 2022. Created by the Australian Center for the Moving Image, the exhibit celebrates over 25 years of DreamWorks Animation. The interactive and family-friendly experience features many beloved DreamWorks characters, including Shrek, Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon, Po from the Kung Fu Panda movies, all the characters from Madagascar, and Trolls—just to name a few. The exhibition follows the process of transforming a single sketch into an animated film.
Large traveling exhibitions like Dreamworks include a slight upcharge, and the museum’s ability to provide access to all students is impacted. With SAGA funding, the MAC will be able to subsidize many more field trips for Title 1 and underserved primary and secondary school students to attend the Dreamworks Animation exhibition, ensuring disadvantaged students will have access to the discovery, joy, and education that visiting a museum can bring into young lives.
