Event: An Aviary for Birds of Sadness – Staged Reading

Date: October 14, 2021
Where: Washington Cracker Co. Building, 304 W Pacific Ave, Spokane

On Thursday, October 14, Spokane Playwrights Laboratory will host their inaugural workshop performance of “An Aviary for Birds of Sadness.” The script is a brand new work from local, award winning playwright Tristen Canfield.

“An Aviary for Birds of Sadness” is a found family story about a group of friends who must band together to take care of one of their own during her darkest days. It is a story that takes an honest look at how mental health affects each and every one of us. The show is not appropriate for children 13 and under.

As Spokane’s only dedicated new script development company, Spokane Playwrights Laboratory is excited to offer an exciting viewing experience that turns audience members into script collaborators with the opportunity to contribute to the making of a new play. After the staged reading has concluded, all audience members are invited to stick around to meet the cast and crew, grab a drink and offer their thoughts on the script.

Doors at 6:30 p.m. Workshop at 7:30 p.m.

Ticket Cost: free; registration required
