“Outside-In: Sarah Thompson Moore” Reception & Lecture

The Whitworth University Art & Design Department and the university’s Bryan Oliver Gallery are proud to present an installation of works by Sarah Thompson Moore.

Reception: Tuesday, Feb. 27, 5-6 p.m., Lied Center for the Visual Arts
Artist’s lecture: Tuesday, Feb. 27, 6-7 p.m., Lied Center for the Visual Arts, Room 102

You may also visit the exhibit between Feb. 6 and Mar. 22, 2024. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Closed on official university holidays.

Outside-In draws upon the artist’s experience creating large-scale public works that contemplate nature, history and the essential characteristics of a given place. Reflecting upon those themes, Sarah Thompson Moore filters them through the lens of the gallery walls in a mixed-media display of visually linked artworks, installation and remnants. Including a re-envisioning of materials and processes left over from past public art projects, Outside-In is all about self-reflection and exploring new territories in life and in art.

Rick’s newest work, “Hunger”, illustrates his empathy and compassion for the human condition. ” I want the viewer to react to my work.” Part of the display are the numerous articles describing the controversy surrounding two of his pieces, “Ganesh” and “Solidarity.”
Jacob Johns paintings are displayed with the sculpture. We are happy to announce that Jacob has returned to Spokane and is healing daily.
