Rio Alberto (He/They) is Associate Artistic Director of Spokane Ensemble Theatre. A Chicano artist and educator based in Spokane, Alberto relocated to Chicago to work and study theatre and lighting. Since then, Rio has worked across the country as an artist and educator, and has performed in Man of La Mancha (Sancho Panza), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Leaf Coneybear), Titus Andronicus (Chiron), and the world premiere of “Devilfish” from celebrated Tlingit playwright and author Vera Starbard. Most recently onstage in RENT at Eastern Washington University, Rio is currently Director of Marketing and Engagement for Perseverance Theatre, Alaska’s premiere regional theatre.
