Lily Reavis is an artist from Tonasket, Washington. Her work is mainly sculptural, incorporating some drawing/painting. She often displays a variety of materials and textures, with an aesthetic requiring found objects and antique elements. Her work has been displayed multiple times in the Gordon Wilson Gallery at Whitworth University, in the yearly Whitworth Today magazine, and at the Spokane Valley Arts Council annual art auction. She has also received several Art & Design Dep. Achievement and Enhanced Talent Awards from Whitworth University. Lily recently studied abroad at the University of Chester in England studying Garment Production. She has a BA degree from Whitworth University in both the two-dimensional and three-dimensional tracks.
Living in a quiet rural town most of her life, Lily learned to take notice of the rustic beauty that emanates from the beaten, broken-down, worn and tattered things of life. Naturally, this led her to a profound fascination with antiques. Captivated by the idea of bringing the dead back to life, she acknowledges the past then transform it into a wildly new creation. Combining her two-dimensional and three-dimensional art-making skills, she assembles works of art rich in a wide variety of textures and materials like paper, fabric, and clay to name a few. With the goal of going into stop-motion animation, Lily finds herself curating cinematic moments steeped in narrative. Hidden amongst the overgrowth you will find whimsical creatures submerged in the ever-evolving life that moves all around them. Like that of roots into branches, you may also find a theme of growth, change, and faith within her workâreflecting the inner workings of her own life and what makes her who she is. But more than anything, Lily aims to cultivate a sense of wonder and curiosity within all those who look upon her creations.
