I’m a painter and muralist living and working in Spokane. My focus is on documenting the places and scenes that often go unnoticed — street corners, sidewalks, signage, industrial lines — the city as it really is, not as we wish it looked. I work primarily in oil, building up images through glazing, underpainting, and careful attention to atmosphere.
My influences include Gustave Doré, Gilbert Williams, and Thomas Kinkade — each of them masters of light, mood, and storytelling. I’m drawn to work that feels suspended in time, where something quiet is just barely holding still. That’s what I try to do in my own paintings, whether it’s a downtown intersection or a dreamlike landscape.
My work has been featured in exhibitions at the Liberty Gallery, New Moon Art Gallery, and the Jundt Art Museum. I was selected for the 2024 Spokane Valley Arts Council’s juried Art Showcase & Auction, and I’ve completed public murals for Avista Utilities, the Garland District, and Avenue West Gallery (with SAGA funding).
I’m available for mural projects, original commissions, and private collectors. You can view my available work and contact me through artistaaronsmith.com.
