Saranac Art Projects is pleased to present Presencing; works by Emily Somoskey, Mana Mehrabian, Ellen Picken, Lena J. Lopez Schindler, & Hannah Koeske.
Emily Somoskey
Emily’s mixed-media paintings use representational and abstract methods to explore ways we experience physical and mental space.
Mana Mehrabian
Referencing photography and its conceptual and theoretical aspects, Mana creates work that engages the world of images and reflects on the ideas of perception, identity, power, memory, and the body.
Ellen Picken
Ellen’s recent paintings come from dreams and moments in silence. She interprets the behavior of the dream as a pattern, and the symbols reflect the fluctuating nature of the messages.
Lena J. Lopez Schindler
Lena works in a variety of materials and processes, predominantly in 2-D formats using traditional painting and drawing mediums on paper, referencing news about the US/Mexico border.
Hannah Koeske
The painting, Wedding Feast, probes the difficult and sometimes alarmingly transcendent realities of relationships and family ties that involve the tangle of love, trauma, loss, respect, disrespect, and grace.
Opening Reception: Friday, January 7, 2022, 5-8pm.
