Art in Progress

Developing Spokane’s public art scene is a major part of our work at Spokane Arts. We are committed to exploring new opportunities to beautify our city in cooperation with local organizations and businesses. View the art projects currently in progress below.

Art in Transit

Spokane Arts is partnering with STA to seek input from the community on how to add “identifying” elements to each City Line station to ensure each one feels welcoming, activated and reflective of the identity and history of the communities it serves.

CSO 26 Plaza

In partnership with the Spokane Tribe and the city of Spokane, Spokane Arts administered the creation of new public art on a public plaza overlooking the Spokane River. Multiple pieces of artwork, created by Spokane Tribe member Jeff Ferguson and Colville Tribe member Smoker Marchand–with assistance from local artist Rick Davis– tell the story of the river’s importance to every aspect of native culture and history. Mark your calendar for the October 25 ribbon-cutting to celebrate the new plaza and honor the artists.

Spokane Public Library Renovations

Spokane Arts is partnering with Spokane Public Libraries to administer the creation of new public art in accordance with the city of Spokane’s 1% for public art policy, to clean/maintain existing artworks in the library’s collection, and to advise on the creation of maker spaces within library branches, which foster learning and provide access to tools and resources for all.
