Artist Katie Creyts is pursuing a new medium in her artistic practice and with the help of the Spokane Arts Grant Awards (SAGA) she has a new project in store. Creyts’ fascination with domesticated versus wild animals will be explored through fused and carved glassworks comparing and contrasting animals and the narratives surrounding them.
Creyts’ research for this project will include the topics of animal domestication, perceptions of animal life, and the history and impact of zoonotic diseases. Her completed works will be rendered in colorful, fused, and carved glassworks and exhibited at Saranac Arts Project on 25 W. Main Street as social distancing allows.
