Inspired by The Book of the City of Ladies by Christine de Pizan (originally published in 1405), local artist Hannah Charlton honors the heroic ladies of the 15th century through her painted illuminated manuscripts. Through her artwork, Charlton celebrates the accomplishments of these women and uses traditional medieval illuminated manuscript techniques to bring their stories to life.

Pottery Place Plus First Friday Reception

Ruthie Franks is a Spokane gourd artist whose vision for growing, drying and creating beautiful pieces started over 20 years ago.

Ruthie says she is finally beginning to understand the vagaries associated with growing the perfect art gourd, which is harder than the decision of what to do with it once grown. In her own words, “I have tried to bring out the organic beauty of my gourds, each has its own beauty that is waiting to be expressed.”

Ruthie will be the PPP Guest Artist for the month of July ~ stop by the gallery in the historic Liberty Building on First Friday July 7th from 5-9pm to meet the artist and enjoy her beautiful carved & painted gourd art!
