The Spokane Arts artist roster is a searchable tool designed to showcase local creatives and connect them with community members seeking artists and makers. Browse the entire roster to discover a new favorite artist or filter by the type of work you’re seeking. You’ll find samples of their work, a description of what drives them to create and links to check out their website or social media. Use the roster to discover the incredible talent living right here in our community. Please note: the artist roster is a free resource directory to find artists. Any local artist can add their information. The artists on the roster are not endorsed or represented by Spokane Arts. 

In order to foster a thriving creative community where artists can make a living doing their work, Spokane Arts believes in the importance of paying artists. Too often, creatives are asked to provide time, labor, materials, or finished work for free. While most of us wouldn’t ask an electrician, CPA or nurse to provide their professional services at no cost — knowing they trained and studied to gain expertise — artists are often asked to donate their services. Many artists and creatives do choose to donate their time to causes they care deeply about, but to make a living, doing work for free should be the exception, not the rule. We humbly ask you to keep this in mind when contacting creatives on the roster, and know that you can always ask an artist to give you a cost estimate or written proposal to review. Questions? Aaron Smith

Aaron Smith is a local painter, available for commissions and murals, specializing in capturing local scenery. Prints and other works can be found at aaronpsmithart.com. Aaron began painting local scenery after he bought an art print by Zuane “Canaletto” who specialized in painting the canals of Venice. When observing his work and the work of other influences such as Edward Hopper, Aaron had come to admire the authenticity of what they captured by being in their particular time and place. Cannaletto, for example, may not have appreciated at the time the innocuous shutters, clotheslines and chimneys which were so unique to his era. Just as Hopper may not have meant to capture the quiet and even boredom of his time and place by painting a woman looking at her fingers in a neon lit diner such as the case in Nighthawks. So Aaron’s paintings of Spokane are meant to be seen as documents for an ever changing fast paced era. In one painting for example a man holds a white takeout coffee cup with a black lid. In another, viewers can see the city from the top of Monroe Street which has already changed with construction. He also does commissions and murals. Rosie Cerquone

Rosie Cerquone is a freelance percussionist, singer, and songwriter currently based in Spokane, WA. She graduated from the University of Montana in the spring of 2020 with a BM in Percussion Performance and a minor in Media Arts. During her time at UM she studied classical percussion, jazz vibraphone and drum set, steel pan, congas, Middle Eastern hand drumming, West African Drumming, and Balinese Gamelan. Rosie is passionate about the growing field of mallet percussion and voice, and uses her songwriting skills to write pop hits carried by vibraphone and her unique, raw, jazz vocal style. Rosie released her first single, “12,” in October ,2020. She’ll be releasing her debut album, “the how & the why,”  in January, 2021. All the music is original, and features vibraphone, vocals, rich harmonies, drums, auxiliary percussion, and found sounds. Rosie performs regularly in the Spokane area at bars and performance venues.
