Programs
Asphalt Art
The Spokane Arts Asphalt Art Program converts parts of streets and crosswalks into public art installations, enriching local neighborhoods while providing a traffic calming solution. This pilot program will run for a minimum of three years, during which time we will work alongside Spokane neighborhoods and local artists to create art that is painted directly onto our street intersections and crosswalks.
Arts Incubator
Spokane Arts’ Arts Incubator program provides support and resources to fledgling nonprofit arts & culture organizations, offering fiscal sponsorship to groups or organizations who don’t yet have their own 501c3 status.
Visual Arts Tours
Spokane Arts’ three city-wide arts tours feature venues large and small simultaneously hosting artwork, curatorial projects, and performances. Our SATURATE initiative that spotlights artists of color especially deepens the conversation on race, identity, and culture in our city and beyond.
TheaterFest
TheaterFest is a one-day showcase of the performing arts, featuring short performances, activities and workshops for kids and adults to play, learn, and try something new.
Public Art
A primary function of the Spokane Arts Commission is coordinating the selection, placement and other planning and design factors of municipal art projects in accordance with the overall municipal arts plan.
Poetry Out Loud
Poetry Out Loud builds on the recent resurgence of poetry as an oral art form. Poetry Out Loud competitions teach students to appreciate poetry of all types and encourage them to incorporate great poetry into their lives.
Poet Laureate
The Poet Laureate program celebrates Spokane’s vibrant literary community and aims to strengthen the future of literary arts in our city by engaging a broad range of communities.
Music Video Jams
Music Video Jams is a music video festival and competition featuring new work created by collaborating local filmmakers and musicians. For this annual event, local filmmakers and musicians are introduced to each other and asked to collaborate on a music video for an original song by the musicians/bands.
Meet the Makers
Meet the Makers is a short-film series, produced and filmed by local filmmakers, featuring the creatives who are shaped by Spokane and who make Spokane what it is.
