Vytal Movement Dance Company (VMDC) is Spokane’s only professional dance company, founded in the summer of 2016. The troupe is composed of several highly trained dancers, most of whom connected via community adult dance classes taught by Vincas Greene, VMDC’s director.
The Company’s formation was motivated by two main goals: to develop a professional quality modern dance presence for the regional audience in the Inland Northwest, and to provide performance opportunities for the talented dancers, who call this region home.
WITH SAGA SUPPORT
Vytal Movement Dance Company will present a concert of original dance works choreographed by Greene. VMDC is collaborating with Spokane composers Margaret Francik and Sy Hovik, Spokane photographer/videographer Ira Gardner, and costume designers during the development process of the new dances. The concert will take place in the Bing Crosby Theater on April 20 and 21.
VMDC will be identifying under-represented groups that would not normally have the opportunity to attend a dance concert and provide 100 complementary tickets.
This dance concert is designed to intrigue and increase the dance audience in Spokane by using the commonality of the Spokane River as a subject for one of the dances. SAGA is pleased to support the performance of new work in an arts medium that has not been presented to the general Spokane audience in several years.
