Acclaimed local artist Tracy Poindexter-Canton presents an imaginative collection of new mixed media works using collage, assemblage and reinterpreted objects. Through collage, vibrancy and portraiture, Tracy examines Black American identity and melding literary imagery with visual art. Her 2019 mixed media series, “To Shalimar,” celebrated the literary greatness of Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison, receiving statewide acclaim and now a recent permanent public art acquisition from the Washington Arts Commission and Spokane Public Library.
You can view the artwork of Tracy Poindexter-Canton at the Liberty Gallery, above Auntie’s bookstore in the historic Liberty Building in downtown Spokane during the month of August, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. daily.
