With SAGA support, local artist Tami Hennessy will execute an intricate multimedia art
exhibit exploring her experience with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
Often misdiagnosed, FND affects 1/3 of patients who are being treated for neurological
disorders. Patients are often told that their symptoms are all in their head. Through
multimedia art and installation, Hennessy will bring awareness and understanding
while incorporating her own experience in a tactile, thoughtful public display, including
interactive and educational elements. The multimedia installation and art pieces will be
presented during FND Awareness Month, April 2023.
“The goal for this installation will be to educate, provide a voice for the people in our
community suffering from this isolating and devastating disorder, provide hope, and
facilitate healing. Art is a powerful way of sharing the human experience and if everyone
who attends takes away one or more of those, then I have succeeded,” Hennessy
writes.
