The City of Seattle owns over 3,000 artworks in its Civic Art Collection and has been collecting for over 40 years. The Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS), in partnership with Seattle City Light (SCL) invites artists to submit images of two-dimensional artwork and wall hanging sculptures for a competitive purchase for the City’s Civic Art Collection. These artworks will enter the SCL Portable Works Collection managed by ARTS. They will be displayed throughout city galleries and offices.
For this call, maximum measurements for work are 48 x 48 x 5 inches and work should not weigh more than 50 pounds. The artworks submitted for purchase should be under $2,500 each. Artwork not conforming to these qualifications may be disqualified. The artwork will enter a rotating portable works collection and objects may need to be moved by one person.
Eligibility
This call is open to professional artists who are residents of the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, Montana, Idaho, and Alaska).

Budget
A total of up to $150,000 for all artworks is available for this direct purchase. The artworks submitted for purchase should be under $2,500 each.
Deadline
11:59pm Pacific, Thursday, May 7, 2020. Please allow ample time to complete your application; applications submitted after the 11:59pm Pacific deadline will not be accepted.
