Grantee: Edward Bryan & William Berry

Project Title: Moby Dick – A Musical
Year awarded: 2018, Round 2

SAGA support helped writer, Edward Bryan, and composer, William Berry, to bring this undertaking to stage by assisting with the cost of the musicians, equipment, and performance space.

In a significant collaboration between Bryan and Berry, the classic tale of a man chasing a whale has been refashioned as a musical. Writing dialogue and song lyrics, along with creating stage directions, property lists, and set and lighting designs for this production has consumed hundreds of hours of the artists’ time. On its way to a full production, Moby Dick – A Musical, was scheduled for April 5, 6 and 7, 2019, at Spokane Civic’s Firth Chew Studio Theatre as a staged reading for Spokane audiences.
