Grantee: Finding Human Project

Project Title: Boosting Our Kid Heroes and Discovering Community Space
Year awarded: 2024, Round 3

The Finding Human Project (FHP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to exploring and amplifying the stories of individuals who have faced significant challenges, focusing on the human experience of transformation and resilience. Through multimedia storytelling and community engagement, the project seeks to foster empathy, understanding, and connection across diverse communities.

FHP will lead two community-focused story circle workshops at Holmes Elementary School and Our Place Spokane, using theater-based tools, movement, and creative expression to explore personal and community narratives. These workshops will empower participants to reframe their life stories, fostering greater understanding of shared spaces and the Hero’s Journey.

SAGA support will allow FHP to facilitate these workshops, offer stipends to artists and facilitators, and create a community mural in partnership with HeARTworks and Spokane Schools. This project will build stronger community connections and provide teachers and community members with tools to reflect on and share their experiences.
