The SFCC Fine Art Gallery’s New Exhibition
Spokane Falls Community College’s Fine Art Gallery will be hosting a fascinating and poignant new exhibit from November 1 – December 1. Scenes from an Underpass is an ode to human development, stubborn vegetation, sprawl, guts, growth and decay. Drawings are translated into sculptures and displayed with a collection of small studies and samples, each a memento honoring their place within the urban ecosystem.
Metalsmith artist Caitie Sellers received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in craft/material studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA in 2007. Her work ranges from one-of-a-kind small sculpture to custom fine jewelry and can be found in stores, galleries and museums across the US and internationally. Caitie’s recent exhibitions include “Placeholder,” a solo show at the Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis, TN, and “Shared Concerns,” a traveling exhibition shown across the US and Australia. Caitie was an Artist-in-Residence at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, co-director/resident artist at Clamp Light Artist Studios and Gallery in San Antonio, TX and the founder/director of Elevator Collective Artist Studios in Richmond. She currently resides and works in Richmond.
All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday. The Art Gallery is located on the SFCC campus: 3410 W. Whistalks Way in the Fine Art Bldg. 6, East Entrance.
