APRIL AT THE CHASE: FLOW BIOLOGICA
Artists Finn Pond and Meghan Jones bring their exciting work to life at the Chase Gallery in April! Meet the artists at our First Friday reception on April 4 from 5:00 -7:30pm at the Chase Gallery, 808 W Spokane Falls Blvd.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
FINN POND:
Finn is a self-trained artist. His artwork is abstract/non-representational and explores the interactions of color and shape; at times emphasizing color and movement, at other times focusing on subtle transitions of color and form. It is informed by the intricate beauty and complexity of biological systems. Finn begins each painting with an abstracted image from the natural world—isolated aspects of an organism or ecological setting—or a particular feeling or emotion. Artistic improvisation then shapes the painting.
MEGHAN JONES
A lifelong artist working primarily in acrylic on canvas and graphite on paper, Meghan also has extensive experience in textiles, design, writing, autonomous project management, and small business skills. In 2021 she transitioned from a 12+ year career writing knitting patterns for books and magazines back to a Fine Art Practice of painting and drawing. She brings her immense creativity, technical abilities, critical thinking skills, business acumen and marketing ideas with her.
NINE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS SELECTED FOR PUBLIC ART
CONGRATULATIONS to the high school artists selected to have their artwork installed on a local signal box!
Spokane Arts, in cooperation with STCU‘s Here for Good Foundation, will oversee the production and installation of nine new art wraps that will cover some of the many industrial-looking signal boxes around Spokane.
These wraps were created by local high school students who submitted their work in the fall of 2024. Members of the Arts Commission, STCU, and Spokane Arts adjudicated the many submissions, selecting these nine to move forward and be produced.
The featured artists are Audrey Allore, Kyo Hoffman, Bryson Lay, Reilly Malone, Allison Monkman, Mia Ressa, Daniel Nikolaev, Cody O’Connor, and Maggie Poole. These young artists created dynamic, beautiful, and whimsical pieces of art that captivated the judges.
These wraps will be installed over the course of the summer and fall in 2025, and we will keep the public informed as each one is completed.
