The New Moon Art Gallery is hosting over one hundred of their finest student artists from eleven High School Art Program’s throughout Spokane County. The show, entitled “Hatchlings”, opens on First Friday, May 5th and runs through May 27th.
All media will be represented including; painting, watercolors, sculpture, ceramics, photography, jewelry and digital artworks .
One highlight of the show comes from Rogers High school on Spokane’s north side. It is a collaborative project consisting of 45 individual mini tile sculptures that hang as a unit. The sum of the piece represents the endangered coral reef. If sold, the student artists will donate the proceeds to a coral reef restoration project.
The community program, developed by New Moon member, Mark Barnes, is giving students a chance to show their work in a professional setting and offering our community a chance to see some of the works of the up and coming artists of tomorrow.
