Event: Emeritus: Gordon Wilson Exhibit

Dates: November 7, 2023 - January 24, 2024
Where: Bryan Oliver Gallery in Lied Center for the Arts, Whitworth University, 300 W Hawthorne Rd, Spokane, WA 99251
The Whitworth University Art & Design Department and the university’s Bryan Oliver Gallery are proud to present a selection of works created over the last 50 years by Whitworth Professor Emeritus of Art & Design Gordon Wilson. Please visit the exhibit between Nov. 7, 2023, and Jan. 24, 2024.

Artist statement: “Works in the exhibit are representational. They include familiar elements that are meant to make the unfamiliar elements accessible. The works are not solely a record but are intended to be in some way a separate reality – a personalized view. The attributes of a street, mood of an individual or representation of a vaguely known family history are stories that can contain shared experience and values. The images are integral to who I am and what I experience. The visual world provides evidence, valuable clues of ongoing cycles, that informs and enriches. The works don’t form a diary – but something like one.”
