Kathryn Smith is the author of the poetry collection Book of Exodus (Scablands Books, 2017), and several other books. Her collage and mixed media pieces have also been shown in a variety of venues.

The Spokane Zine Fest is a Saturday, October 19, public event in downtown Spokane celebrating zines, small press books, comics, drawings, prints, cards, and other small handmade paper goods.

Rooted & Soaring
Artwork on both the north and south ends of the University District Gateway Bridge was installed in May, 2019, by Garco Construction as part of their finishing touches on the overall bridge project. “Rooted and Soaring” are two iconic, polished steel structures.
Arts Incubator
Spokane Arts’ Arts Incubator program provides support and resources to fledgling nonprofit arts & culture organizations, offering fiscal sponsorship to groups or organizations who don’t yet have their own 501c3 status.
Visual Arts Tours
Spokane Arts’ three city-wide arts tours feature venues large and small simultaneously hosting artwork, curatorial projects, and performances. Our SATURATE initiative that spotlights artists of color especially deepens the conversation on race, identity, and culture in our city and beyond.
Public Art
A primary function of the Spokane Arts Commission is coordinating the selection, placement and other planning and design factors of municipal art projects in accordance with the overall municipal arts plan.

The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC)
Founded in 1916, the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture is the largest cultural organization in the Inland Northwest, serving more than 100,000 visitors a year. It is one of Washington State’s five Smithsonian affiliates and are accredited by the Alliance of American Museums.
