In order to foster a thriving creative community where artists can make a living doing their work, Spokane Arts believes in the importance of paying artists. Too often, creatives are asked to provide time, labor, materials, or finished work for free. While most of us wouldn’t ask an electrician, CPA or nurse to provide their professional services at no cost — knowing they trained and studied to gain expertise — artists are often asked to donate their services. Many artists and creatives do choose to donate their time to causes they care deeply about, but to make a living, doing work for free should be the exception, not the rule. We humbly ask you to keep this in mind when contacting creatives on the roster, and know that you can always ask an artist to give you a cost estimate or written proposal to review. Questions? Megan Perkins is an artist, teacher, and native of the Pacific Northwest. She works primarily in watercolor with a love of color and expressive line. She has exhibited in many venues in the Spokane region including the Chase Gallery, Terrain, Jundt Art Museum and more.
Katelyn Reed is a 23-year old multidimensional artist and secondary teacher.
She works with many medias including visual art, poetry and writing, sound, dance and performance.
I have been doing photography for 50 years. As an artist, I don’t limit myself to one medium. I have painted with oil, watercolor, acrylic, and alcohol ink. I have created pieces in ceramic and porcelain. I have made both 2d and 3d sculpture. In recent years, my art has led me to designing functional spaces. I have designed everything from tiny houses to opera houses, bridges, public art, furniture, and lighting.
Janelle Cordero is an interdisciplinary artist and educator living in Spokane, WA. Her writing has been published in dozens of literary journals, including Harpur Palate, Hobart and The Louisville Review, while her paintings have been featured in venues and shows throughout the Pacific Northwest. Janelle is the author of three books of poetry: Many Types of Wildflowers (V.A. Press, 2020), Woke to Birds (V.A. Press, 2019) and Two Cups of Tomatoes (P.W.P. Press, 2015). Jonathan Adamshaspert is a Spokane based photographer and award winning Pacific Northwest Platinum & Palladium Printmaker. He is the Printmaker in Residence at Ohr Sofer Studio, LLC and an Instructor/Curriculum Advisor of Photographic Practice at Light Benders Institute of Photography. Classically trained in professional photography- he has dedicated his career solely to the making and preservation of platinum and palladium photographic prints in order to ensure the continuation of the traditional printmaking into the 21st Century. His primary area of concentration deals with the printing of large-scale history based community works projects.s
Born in Spokane, Washington, Hannah Pomante is an environmental artist who explores the various ways in which to portray the natural world around us. She specializes in printmaking and public art, exhibiting her work throughout the Northwest.
I am a contemporary abstract artist that works with mixed media and acrylics. I begin a piece with colors in mind but without any predetermined ideas of what the finished work is going to look like. I love the idea of each painting being an unfolding mystery. My acrylic paintings are made with a lot of colors and textures in the hopes of creating a joyful and inspired feeling for the observer.
I am a poet and letterpress printer. Any way to get words on a page. I teach writing, visual rhetoric, editing, and book design at Whitworth University, and am a co-founder of Spokane Print & Publishing Center, and the publisher of Sage Hill Press.

Spokane area artist Antonio Romero lately focuses most of his time on digital artwork he makes on his iPad. He was raised in Mexico, but after returning to the U.S., joined the U.S. Air Force and served for 20 years ending his career at Fairchild AFB, Washington.
