Nalini’s Art for All is founded on the ideals of accessibility and functionality: I create affordable, usable home art as well as canvases that anyone can buy and treasure. Every piece is made with carefully chosen acacia or bamboo wood items for home and quality canvases for paintings.
Every piece I create is unique and hand crafted with fluid artistry. I allow the fluid colors to take form guiding them gently to form intricate patterns. I use different techniques with individual pieces. some pieces are embellished with dried flowers and others with metallic foils to add details. I love the vibrant colors that come to life on different surfaces and the way these colors change with different lighting. I create abstract pieces using fluid techniques, playing with color, texture, and scale in novel ways. My art-pieces evoke the natural world, particularly related to water and the ocean since these are calming to me. I use a combination of natural elements like driftwood pieces, gravel, rocks with resin, acrylic paints, and metallic foil to create textured shorelines resonant of Pacific Northwest geographies.
The story of my art evolution is that of ebb and flow through decades of professional and personal experience with health impairments. As a self-taught artist and pediatrician, I have balanced a 20-year career with personal chronic pain and vision disability while also treating children with complex psychiatric conditions. Through these realities, art has been a source of peace and grounding in appreciation of life as-is.
Art keenly informs my profession: art activates neural networks that support resilience and stress-adaptation. This concept has helped me through my own health struggles and has also been crucial to my work with patients. I often use art to explain concepts of resilience, the impossibility and unsustainability of perfection and finding hope through adversity.
I bring the same passion and attention to detail to my art as I do to my practice of medicine, and both bring me immense joy.
I have been painting since childhood and art along with my practice of medicine are my passion. After over two decades being a practicing pediatrician, I have now chosen to also devote time to my art and sharing it with others.
You can find examples of my work on my website. I sell my art at local art fairs. You can also find me at Arbor Crest winery art shows in summer and fall as well as Custer’s Art spring and fall art shows. You can contact me directly if you like a particular piece that I have made and I can arrange for a private showing as well.
