Melissa Rackham is a photographer, educator and fine artist based in Spokane, WA. She works with various photographic media and processes, creating and exhibiting work internationally. Changing career directions within the medium has allowed her to experience various aspects of photography, moving from photojournalism to studio work and into fine art. Each of those career paths influences what she creates today.
Currently, she teaches at a local community college, having previously taught at the University of Memphis and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Melissa has taught various photography lab courses, photographic and art history, as well as workshops in alternative processes and handmade book structures. Her research and images were published Fall 2021 in a book on Cyanotype Toning by Routledge and she’s now working on publishing her first monograph.
