About: Karen Vo is a self-taught visual artist specializing in wildlife, with a particular affinity for birds. Born and raised in Washington state, Karen attributes her love of the natural world to her being spoiled by Washington scenery and wildlife throughout her childhood. Karen works primarily in gouache, watercolor, and graphite in an attempt to capture the beauty, fragility, and resilience of animals and plant life. Her goal as an artist is to bring more attention to the animals and plants we coexist with; highlighting their importance and how we have the power to protect them.
Karen aspires to work with like-minded individuals who care deeply about the environment. In November 2020, Karen collaborated with the Feminist Bird Club and NYC-based clothing company, Noah NYC Clothing, on a limited-run clothing project representing the group and their mission to make birding and the outdoors more inclusive.
Currently, Karen is a full-time professional student. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in May 2019 at Washington State University. Although a full-time student, Karen finds every opportunity she can to recreate the natural world.
