Queer Art Walk

The Spokane Queer Art Walk stands as a vibrant celebration of artistic expression, diversity, and the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the heart of Spokane, Washington. Founded with the intention to promote visibility, understanding, and appreciation for queer art and artists, it showcases an eclectic array of artworks that delve into themes of identity, equality, love, and resilience. The walk stretches through various venues throughout Spokane. Galleries, cafes, community centers, and public spaces become platforms for self-expression and cultural exploration, fostering dialogue and understanding. Beyond the visual arts, the Queer Art Walk often includes panel discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions.

As the Spokane Queer Art Walk continues to evolve, it exemplifies the power of art as a catalyst for change. A History of Inclusion

Queer Art Walk was founded in 2019 by a group of local artists, with the mission to uplift LGBTQ+ voices and celebrate a historically marginalized group through art. The citywide event in Spokane was the first of its kind in Washington State. The idea was conceived by former Spokane arts commissioner Andrew Whitver, and supported by a group of volunteers including Tiffany Patterson, Eva Silverstone, Roin Morigeau, June Sanders, and Remelisa Cullitan. When Whitver and his husband moved away in early 2022, he asked Spokane Arts to take the reins on coordinating the event, along with the original committee members, to ensure the longevity of the annual celebration.
