With local authors and artists and SAGA support, Spark Central will write, illustrate, and publish an original anthology of writing and art celebrating Spokane’s 50th anniversary of Expo ’74. Participating children, teens, and adults will create original poems, short stories, and artworks in workshops facilitated by local authors and artists using prompts inspired by the city’s five Expo themes: Arts & Culture, Environmental Stewardship, Tribal, EXPO Legacy, Recreation, and Sports.
At the end of the project, the pieces will be compiled and published in a formal anthology that will be celebrated with a book release party at Spark Central for program participants, their families, and the local community at large.
Workshops will be held at Spark Central in Kendall Yards in May and June, the anthology will be edited and published in July to early August, and the book release party will be held in late August.
